Stem Cell Reports Author
Prof. Eduard Batlle is the chairman of the Cancer Science Program at Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Barcelona (IRB Barcelona). His research focuses on the mechanisms that drive colorectal cancer initiation and progression. His pioneering studies have systematically characterized the architecture of colorectal cancer (CRC) and revealed key aspects of the stem cell hierarchy that dominates the development of this malignancy. In addition, the Batlle lab has made groundbreaking discoveries to understand immune evasion and, in particular, the role of TGF-beta signaling in poor prognosis CRC. He is currently interested in understanding metastatic relapse and developing approaches to eliminate minimal residual disease.
