Jiguang Wang received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Between 2011 and 2016, he was subsequentially a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and an Associate Research Scientist (Precision Medicine Fellow) at Columbia University. He established the Wang Computational Laboratory at HKUST in 2016, for the application of data science in biology and medicine. His research has been focused on discovering and investigating functional genomic alterations in complex human diseases, especially cancers and vascular malformations affecting the central nervous system. The lab aims to develop and apply computational methods and AI tools, based on statistics and machine learning, to bridge the gaps among big data, bench, and bedside.
