Tatiana Sandoval-Guzmán was born in Mexico, attended university at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She did her PhD at the University of Arizona, USA. She held her first postdoctoral position at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden and her second postdoctoral position at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) of the Technical University Dresden (TUD), where she first started to work with axolotls.
She has been leading a research group since 2017 as part of the CRTD, the Medical Faculty of the TUD and the Paul Langerhans Institute of the Helmholtz Centre in Dresden. Her lab works on understanding regeneration from a systems perspective, including the organism's metabolic toll, the integration of new tissue and species-comparisons that enrich our understanding of this fascinating process.
