Dr. Kazuo Takayama is a Junior Associate Professor (Principal Investigator) at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University. He focuses on pharmaceutical research for viral infections using advanced cell culture technologies such as iPS cells, organoids, and organ-on-a-chip systems. Leveraging these tools, he has successfully established lung (Commun Biol 2022, Sci Adv 2022, Cell Host Micro 2024), intestine (Cell Stem Cell 2024), and liver models (PNAS Nexus 2023). Dr. Takayama earned his doctoral degree in 2015 from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Osaka University. He served as an Assistant Professor there from 2015 to 2020. In March 2020, he launched his laboratory at CiRA, Kyoto University.
