Dr. Pentao Liu is a biologist and a geneticist. He graduated from Henan Normal University with a BS degree in Biology and from Chinese Academy of Sciences with MPhil. Pentao received a Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine under the supervision of Professor Allan Bradely. Following his postdoc training at National Cancer Institute USA with Professors Neal Copeland and Nancy Jenkins, Pentao joined the faculty of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge, U.K. He is currently a professor at the University of Hong Kong and heads Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology. His team have established expanded potential stem cells from multiple mammalian species and are exploring to use these cells for understanding human cell lineage development and for drug discovery and cell-based therapy.
