Stuart J Forbes is Professor of Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, at the University of Edinburgh. Stuart is Director of the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR) where 800 scientists and clinicians studying tissue regeneration and repair to understand how organs form, are injured and can be repaired.
Stuart’s research focuses on how the chronically damaged liver regenerates, including how inflammation and epithelial cells interact in liver repair (https://regenerative-medicine.ed.ac.uk/research/stuart-forbes ) and has used this knowledge to develop cell therapies for liver disease. He has founded Resolution Therapeutics (https://resolution-tx.com/), that is developing macrophage cell therapies to treat inflammatory organ disease.
Stuart is a consultant Hepatologist at the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and has clinical interests in liver failure, cancer and transplantation.
