Masaya Nakamura, MD and PhD is Professor and Chair, Department of Orthopedic Surgery (2015 – present) and Vice Dean, Keio University School of Medicine (2017 – present). He has specialized in spine and spinal cord surgery and stem cell biology, especially regenerative medicine for spinal cord injury. He completed Phase I/II clinical trial of cell therapy for sub-acute spinal cord injury using iPS cells. He received the First award from the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine and the 51st Baelz Prize in 2014. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Spinal Cord Society, President of the Japanese Medical Society of Spinal Cord Lesion and the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research.
