Dr. Nisha Iyer joined the department of Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University as an Assistant Professor in 2022. Her research interests are at the intersection of developmental biology and regenerative medicine, using stem cells to understand and advance neural repair. Her lab focuses on how regional specificity impacts development, degeneration, and regeneration in the spinal cord and peripheral nervous system, developing biomanufacturing strategies and organoid technologies to direct in vitro modeling and cell therapy research. She is a recipient of the NIH HEAL Initiative Director’s New Innovator Award.
