Dr. Zhou graduated from Zhejiang University with an MD in 2002; obtained a PhD from Peking Union Medical College in 2006; and conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School from 2006 to 2010. After returning to China in 2010, he worked at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is primarily engaged in research on the regulatory mechanisms of cell origin and fate plasticity in organ development and tissue regeneration. Dr. Zhou has received several awards, including the International Society for Heart Research - Outstanding Researcher Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, the Xplorer Prize, and the New Cornerstone Investigator.
