Thierry VandenDriessche, PhD (he/him/his)

Dr. VandenDriessche is currently tenured professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Belgium) where he is Founding Director of the Department of Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine. He obtained his PhD (VUB) in 1992 in the field of gene therapy and was a visiting fellow at the Weizmann Institute for Science (Israel), post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, USA) and principal investigator at the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB)/KU Leuven (Belgium). Dr. VandenDriessche has published over 150 publications in the field of gene therapy, gene editing and stem cell engineering, primarily for hereditary diseases. He previously served as President of the European Society of Gene & Cell Therapy and was member of the EMA - Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT).
