Dr. Muffat is an assistant professor in the Molecular Genetics program at the University of Toronto, and a PI at the Hospital for Sick Children where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Synthetic Neuroimmunology. He received his undergraduate training in bioengineering at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris-Saclay. Following a Masters in Biology of Aging jointly with the University of Paris and Harvard Medical School, he received his Ph.D. in molecular and cellular neuroscience from Caltech. As a postdoc at the Whitehead Institute he contributed to some of the first studies of neurological disorders in the dish using human iPSCs, focusing on the use of 3D cultures, including organoids, to model the role of microglia in normal and pathological conditions.
