Paula Martos Salvo is a PhD candidate in Dr. Emma Hammarlund's lab at Lund University (Sweden) and a member of Lund Stem Cell Center. She specializes in stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, and the role of physiologically oxic and hypoxic conditions in tissue homeostasis. Her research investigates how hypoxia pathways regulate stem cell activity and tissue renewal across species. In invertebrates, Paula explores how oxygen availability and sensing influence regenerative capacity and lifespan. In collaboration with Dr. Jordi Guiu’s lab at IDIBELL in Barcelona (Spain), she examines the role of hypoxia pathways in regeneration, particularly after irradiation, using intestinal organoids and mouse models. Through this comparative approach, Paula aims to uncover insights into mechanisms that govern tissue maintenance and regenerative potential across species.
