William Cheung is a scientist by training. He received his BSc in Bioinformatics and PhD in Cancer Genetics at The University of Hong Kong. He then pursued his postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine, where he published research articles on lung cancer metastasis in top-tier journals including Cancer Cell, and received funding from Uniting Against Lung Cancer and American Association for Cancer Research.
After returning to Hong Kong, William began his entrepreneurial journey in the consulting and investment businesses. He co-founded OVC Investments, an angel fund that invests in early-stage biotech startups. He also founded Action Life Sciences Consulting to advise on fundraising and commercialization strategy, focusing on the healthcare sector. As a lead R&D scientist, William co-founded a clinical laboratory and an IVD startup that offers diagnostic tests for cancer and infectious diseases. William is now a Senior Manager at Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, leveraging his experience to support biotech startups setting up in Hong Kong.
