Stylianos Lefkopoulos obtained his PhD in 2021 from the University of Freiburg in Germany, based on work conducted in the laboratory of Eirini Trompouki at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology & Epigenetics. His work described how innate immune signals are triggered by transposable element transcripts during development to favor the production of hematopoietic stem & progenitor cells. During his postdoctoral studies with Trista North at Boston Children’s Hospital, Stylianos aimed to characterize metabolic pathways modulating hematopoietic stem cell development. Stylianos joined Nature Cell Biology in December 2021 and he is based in the Berlin office.
