Dr. Wenli Yang is a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine and the director of the human iPSC Core facility at the University of Pennsylvania. The Core services internal and external research communities with stem cell technologies including iPSC derivation, genome editing and differentiation. Dr. Yang’s own research interests include establishing human PSC-derived models and using these models to elucidate the function of type 2 diabetes-associated genes in insulin responsive tissues. She obtained her PhD in molecular genetics from UCLA and did her postdoctoral training in adipose tissue development and function at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Yang is the president of the Stem Cell COREdinates (coordinates.org), an international consortium of PSC-focused core facilities with the goal of sharing expertise with the larger stem cell community.
