Dr. Nika Shakiba is an Assistant Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) at the University of British Columbia. Nika received her Ph.D. in Dr. Peter Zandstra’s lab the University of Toronto and later conducted her postdoctoral training in the Synthetic Biology Center at MIT. She is a Canada Research Chair in Cellular Engineering and an Allen Distinguished Investigator.
Her lab uses systems and synthetic biology approaches to understand cooperative and competitive interactions between pluripotent stem cells in development and cell therapy manufacturing.
