Ajou University
Dr. Junghyun Kim is a Professor at Ajou University’s School of Pharmacy and a specialist in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), regenerative medicine, and organoid-based disease modeling. From 2014 to 2024, she served as Director and Deputy Director of the Korea National Stem Cell Bank, where she led the development and distribution of GMP-grade hPSC lines and advanced national infrastructure for clinical translation.
Dr. Kim has played a key role in international standardization, representing Korea in the International Stem Cell Banking Initiative (ISCBI) and the Global Alliance for iPSC Therapies (GAiT). She contributed to global consensus guidelines for seed-stock banking, quality control, and regulatory alignment.
She received her Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg and completed postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University. Her research, focused on stem cell-based models for infection and therapy screening, has been published in leading journals such as Nature Communications, Hepatology, and Stem Cell Reports.
