Prof. Jihwan Song is Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at CHA University and Founder of iPS Bio, Inc., a stem cell start-up specializing in iPSC-based therapeutics. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Yonsei University and earned his D.Phil. in Developmental Biology from the University of Oxford, followed by postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute/MIT, MGH/Harvard Medical School, UC Irvine, and McLean Hospital.
He is a founding director of the Asian Alliance for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine (AASCRM), a Director at the Global Alliance for iPSC Therapies (GAiT), and past President and Chairman of the Korean Society for Stem Cell Research (KSSCR). He is also active in ISSCR committees (MCTR and MIOC) and contributed to the ISSCR Standards for Human Stem Cell Use in Research.
His research focuses on iPSC-based therapies for neurological diseases, particularly Huntington’s disease and stroke, using clinical-grade neural cells derived from HLA-homozygous iPSC lines.
