Yifei Miao, Ph.D., is an Instructor in Pulmonary Biology and a member of the Center for Stem Cell & Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. His primary research interests are centered on improving 3D organoid platforms by introducing vasculatures during organogenesis through a co-development strategy or assembloids. Additionally, Dr. Miao utilizes comprehensive transcriptomic, epigenomic, and spatial single-cell information to characterize organ-specific endothelial features during human development, which informs the generation of organ-specific endothelium in a 3D organoid system. These innovative approaches are instrumental in better understanding vasculature defects in congenital pulmonary and cardiac diseases, and provide critical insights into developing new treatments for vascular-centered diseases.
